OSCAR is an open-source (free), Canadian EMR, developed by a collaborative community of programmers and users. Users pay no licensing costs and have the freedom to choose from a range of support companies. There are over 1,500 OSCAR users and over a million patients on the system nationally, and it has won several prestigious awards for IT innovation. BC now has well over 600 clinical users!
OSCAR users will demonstrate the EMR including voice recognition software, prescribing and billing tools, drawing diagrams, tools for maternity and newborn care as well as auto-populating flowsheets for a range of chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, CHF and much more!
OSCAR's ease of use, excellence in programming, high level of functionality, and low costs for ongoing support and implementation, are part of why OSCAR is experiencing rapid growth.
Also, for those who might want a more in-depth look at OSCAR and the OSCAR community:
The annual BC OSCAR User Group meeting is being held on Friday May 4th and Saturday May 5th 2012
Information about the user group meeting including the agenda and registration information will be posted on this site as it becomes available.
