Purpose:
This will be a survey aimed at determining the utility, efficiency and ease of use of
an evidence-based personalized diet, exercise, and behaviour prescription and
information package for adult primary care patients (aged 18-75) who are obese or
overweight (BMI>25). Specifically, general practitioners will be asked to use an
OSCAR EMR-based form and input specific height, weight and physical activity level
data to generate a personalized form and information package prescribing evidence-
based dietary and activity targets as well as suggestions for behavioral
modifications to facilitate a healthy lifestyle aimed at preventing obesity. The aim of
this form is to overcome traditional challenges in obesity management in the
primary care setting, including lack of weight management-related knowledge and
competencies, time and resource constraints, and resultant lack of remuneration
leading to avoidance of the topic.
