OSCAR Canada Users Society

In 2007 a new not-for-profit society was registered in the Province of British Columbia called the:

"OSCAR Canada Users' Society"

Mission Statement:

The Oscar Canada Users Society (OCUS) is a community of people dedicated to fostering the growth of the OSCAR Users Community, and OSCAR users' satisfaction with OSCAR. OSCAR is a suite of Open Source applications including an Electronic Medical Record. OCUS is a cooperative social network which serves to channel helpful information among OSCAR users. OCUS also gathers and collates user input for feedback to OSCAR developers.

"The mission of OCUS is to provide an excellent and affordable electronic medical record, which is built on the principles of open source and community development."

Conflict of Interest Declaration:

A resolution was passed by the directors that no person with a pecuniary interest in OSCAR may stand for board membership. This serves to ensure that directors of OCUS are all actual working physician users of OSCAR and none have a direct financial interest in OSCAR or in an OSCAR support business. Furthermore, board members volunteer their time and effort and receive no financial compensation for performing OCUS related work. For this reason none of the directors above have conflicts to declare. 

General Meetings:

The national general meetings are traditionally held in conjunction with the annual Family Medicine Forum of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. In addition, separate provincial user group meetings are held annually in BC and in Ontario. Details of upcoming meetings are announced on our home page here.
